NPR Books We Love

About the NPR Books We Love

NPR's Books We Love (the Book Concierge), 2013-2025: every book NPR staff and critics picked each year, stored as one category, Books We Love. The Concierge's tags (fiction, nonfiction, staff picks, and so on) are not split out. Rows come from the Concierge's own year data (apps.npr.org/best-books/<year>.json); counts match the books shown for each year. Translators named in NPR's credit are stored as translator; illustrators, editors, photographers and co-writers stay in author. 2006-2012 are left out: before the Concierge, NPR's year-end coverage was 15-20 separate critic and staff columns a year (e.g. mysteries, heroines, music books), with themes that change every year and some backlist picks, so there is no consistent list to count. No list is ranked.
