What are some Must See Books to Read Before You Die?

Question by Mer: What are some Must See Books to Read Before You Die?
I really need a good book to grab my attention. I am not an avid reader, but my husband is and I would like to get into it more. But I have trouble finding the “righ” book to read. I have loved mystery and suspense novel. I want to expand my selection. Are there any classic books anyone recommends?

Here are a few must reads:
anything by Charles Dickens (Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, Oliver Twist…)
Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina (or War and Peace if you’re brave)
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice
Thomas Hardy (Jude the Obscure, or I really love A Pair of Blue Eyes)
Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead (a more modern classic)
George Orwell’s 1984 (also more modern)

There’s so many more, but that’s a good start!

    Murder on the Orient Express
The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov

(Agatha Christie wrote a lot of murder mysteries, and they are really good without being bloody, and great deducing)
