Colum McCann (born 1965) is an Irish-born writer of literary fiction, whose novels include This Side of Brightness, Dancer, and Zoli. McCann teaches creative writing at Hunter College, part of the City University of New York. This Side of Brightness and Dancer are international best-sellers. His most recent book, Zoli, has been reviewed by Harper’s Weekly, People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Oprah Magazine, New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, LA Times, among others. His fiction has been published in 26 languages. He has written for numerous publications including The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, GQ, The Times, The Irish Times and La Repubblica. In 2003 McCann was named as one of Esquire Magazine’s “Best and Brightest.” He has also been awarded a Pushcart Prize, the Rooney Prize, the Irish Novel of the Year Award and the 2002 Ireland Fund of Monaco Princess Grace Memorial Literary Award.
